7TH PAISLEY & JNI SCOUTS

Paisley, Refrewshire

Jewitt & Wilkie have had a long-standing association with the Scouting movement and alongside their volunteering role, have provided architectural services in major refurbishments of Scout Halls, as well as advice to Troops throughout Scotland to improve their facilities and to become an asset and resource to their communities.

At the 7th Paisley JNI Scouts, J&W were involved in a long-term strategy to maximise the facilities of an existing Hall through the installation of a new mezzanine floor and the construction of a climbing wall within a former organ loft tower. The introduction of these facilities doubled the Troop’s capabilities to offer space to local groups and increase activities to the JNI and other Troops within Renfrewshire.

This project was featured in the Church Building Preservation Trust Annual Conference as an example of the way in which former churches could become a community resource.
