Shakespeare Street
A residential conversion of the former Shakespeare Street School to 29no. one, two and three bedroom apartments. To the east and south of the former school building, two New Build blocks providing an additional 56no. one and two bedroom apartments are also being constructed.
The unusual U-shaped plan of this red sandstone school was designed by architects Macwahnnell Rogerson and Reid, with construction completed in 1915. In use as an occupational centre until it’s close circa 2014, the fabric of the building was in generally good repair.
A combination of duplex and triplex flats within the former school building provide a good mix to the apartments available in the Maryhill area.
The New Build element of the development in contrast provides a modern 4no. storey element with a mix of apartment styles, including some with balconies and private gardens.
