LATHALLAN HOUSE

Polmont

It was felt that the Jacobean Manor House of Lathallan could not be saved, let alone converted and restored, however, by the process of using new build residential development to cross subsidise the works to the House Falkirk Council and Historic Scotland were able to grant full planning permission and listed building consent for the proposals.

The level of complexity of the project was further exacerbated by a number of ecological constraints, however, these were resolved and the proposals approved. Key to the success of the project was the emphasis upon the quality of the design of the new build element.
